Project Description
The small, spare, and minimalist Tea House is a calm counterpoint to its dramatic neighbor, the Center for Asian Art, which is clad completely in shimmering jade green, terracotta tiles. DWY's design draws from the philosophies of Japanese garden design, relaying on the meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship and the use of borrowed space to compose the landscape. The resulting landscape blends mature canopy trees with the water's edge and then brings the landscape to the foundation of the structure to resolve the elevated floor with natural terrain.
