Hidden Harbor
Project Description
Within the Hidden Harbor neighborhood on Siesta Key, DWY had the opportunity to collaborate with the architect in establishing the relationship of the architecture to the site. Together, DWY and JPA developed a modern composition of structure and hardscape that responds to the traces of the tropical hardwood hammock that once occupied the site; dozens of mature live oaks influenced the siting of the structure and the overall landscape design. Tall native sabal palms – curved to weave into the vertical section established by the oaks – were placed to look as if they'd grown naturally in this place. At the front entry a modern koi pond visually connects the interior and exterior, and the dark water plays off of the canal that runs along the back property line.
